    • The Laparoscopic trocar is a medical instrument that is made up of an obturator, a cannula, and a seal.
    • Trocars are placed through the abdomen during laparoscopic surgery. By using a trocar, a surgeon can access the abdomen or peritoneal cavity.
    • The cannula and sealing caps are separable, which allows the easy removal of tissue during operation.
    • The ergonomic grip design makes the comfortable handling of the device.
    • The reverse thread design makes the insertion smooth and prevents undesired movement during the operation.

  • There are three main sections to a trocar:
    • The cannula. This is the shaft that is inserted into the patient to give access to the abdominal cavity.
    • The seal. This is found at the top of the cannula and ensures that no air escapes from the abdominal cavity while allowing any necessary equipment to be passed through. If air pressure is not properly maintained during laparoscopy, this can impede the surgeon’s view of the area being operated on.
    • The Port. This is the mechanism that enables the cannula to make the initial penetration into the abdomen.
